My name is Leslie Opatril and I am a Canadian musical artist.
An alumna of the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Camosun College, I have completed both a Bachelor of Music at the University of Ottawa and a Master of Music in Composition at the University of British Columbia.
I am thrilled to have had pieces programmed by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Symphony New Brunswick, the North/South Chamber Orchestra (New York, NY), the Sidney Classical Orchestra (Sidney, BC), the Elysian Trio, and the High Notes Flute Choir. In addition, I have completed commissioned works for the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, the Kamloops Art Gallery, and the Elysian Trio. A recipient of a Musician's Travel Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, I have also received scholarships from the British Columbia Arts Council, UBC, uOttawa, and the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
In particular, I have a love for acoustic music in the classical tradition from solo through chamber to the full orchestra.
I am continuously expanding my skill-set as a composer, musician, and educator in and around this wondrous realm
and have the ultimate goal of touching and enriching lives with the services of music.
